The Coffee Paradox

The coffee paradox

The coffee paradox is my self-reflection about my journey through different stages from coffee with milk (latte) full of sugar to black and pure coffee. Follow this small story and the final conclusion and thoughts.

The Coffee Paradox, how I started

When I started to drink coffee, it was at my first job as a trainee in my early twenties. At that moment, I started with cappuccino, but in this case, it was from a vending machine, it was pure sugar! I selected cappuccino because I loved chocolate and I needed a bit more of caffeine in the mornings.

My next stage was coffee with milk. Let me say that in Spain, where I am from, it is very popular to drink coffee with milk in a glass. In this case, I remember the taste of the coffee and how I had to add three or four sugar spoons.

During this stage, I mixed this coffee with ice coffee, very famous in Spain during the Summer when we have high temperatures. Again, full of sugar, three or four spoons.

At some point, I thought this amount of sugar was not good for my body. I was reading about it and I tried to change to brown sugar, which seemed better than white sugar.

The Coffee Paradox, when I removed sugar

Then, I did a new upgrade and I changed sugar for another type of sweetener, of course, very artificial and full of chemicals. I felt comfortable on this as I thought I found the right balance between sweet and health.

I was reading then about the pure taste of coffee, the high number of tastes and smells that coffee offers. In fact, I was cheating myself with the sugar taste. In fact, I was drinking sugar with coffee, not coffee. So I transitioned to coffee with milk, no sugar, no sweetener, only coffee and milk.

I spent around five years at this stage. I was very happy because I felt I was drinking real coffee. From time to time, I was able to drink black coffee, espresso in one, especially when I visited Italy.

Finally, and after reading a lot about coffee properties and especially solo coffee properties. I started to drink black coffee, solo, no sugar, no milk. I did this when I starting to do Intermittent Fasting early in the mornings, and it works. At that point, I was able to feel all tastes and smells from the coffee. In addition, at that moment, I transitioned from Italian coffee machine to Aeropress.

As you just read, this was a real journey. During these years, I heard hundreds of times, how you can drink coffee in this or that way.and do you know what? it is possible!

In terms of health, it is healthier black coffee more than any other coffee expression. Basically, you can change your diet, you can leverage and improve every day, looking for a better and healthier diet.

I hope this story can wake up in you a spirit of changing. If you feel you need, of course, and change your life forever.
